NONLINEAR HYPERBOLIC PROBLEMS: A PRIORI BOUNDS AND SOLUTIONS ON PREASSIGNED SETS.

Abstract

The problems considered are the initial value and the mixed boundary problem for a system of quasi-linear partial differential equations in two independent variables. The main result is that under appropriate conditions the classical local solutions of these problems can be extended to sets of preassigned size. Extensions of this type are useful in the control theory of hyperbolic equations. (Author)
