ON THE DERIVATION OF THE BELL-HIROTA REPRESENTATION OF THE PARTITION FUNCTION FOR INTERACTING BOSONS.

Abstract

A simple representation of the partition function for interacting bosons was derived by Bell and Hirota. They used methods of second quantization, and the equivalence between Matsubara averages and averages over Gaussian random functions. The paper gives a derivation of this representation which entirely by-passes the formalism of second quantization, and uses methods of functional calculus only. (Author)
