THE POPULATION DYNAMICS OF THE LAYSAN ALBATROSS.

Abstract

This long-range investigation of the natural history and population dynamics of the Laysan Albatross on Midway Atoll was initiated in December, 1959. The major objectives encompassed the gathering and analysis of information on populations of different age groups, mortality and longevity, the dynamics of the breeding colony, the seasonal and geographic distribution of birds of diverse age-classes, habitat selection, behavior (especially flight behavior on land and courtship), and miscellaneous data accruing from these studies.
