IONIC CONCENTRATION GRADIENTS IN PERMAFROST, BARROW, ALASKA.

Abstract

The objectives of the study were: to determine the relative ionic concentrations in the perennially frozen ground, soils, and present-day aquatic environments in both the vertical and lateral dimensions, and to interpret the differences or similarities obtained in terms of present and past geomorphic and soil forming activity for the northern Arctic Coastal Plain environment.
