THEORETICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE PERFORMANCE OF A-C MACHINES.
Abstract
The dynamic performance of a three-phase induction motor is analyzed on a digital computer using a mathematical model proposed by Robertson and Hebbar which gives stator currents without transformation to a new set of axes. Various conditions of operation are analyzed, including unbalance, opening and reclosing of a line, and inputs with high time harmonic content. These capabilities make the method attractive for use in the dynamic analysis of automotive systems using electronic power supplies for induction motor drives. The effect of space harmonics was analyzed by the direct method in which neither rotor nor stator currents are transformed. Because of the difficult computation process involved, the analysis including space harmonics had to be limited to those dynamic cases in which either constant acceleration or constant speed was prescribed. It is suggested that further study be directed toward the effects of space harmonics. (Author)
