NATURAL RUBBLE SLOPES AND THEIR RELEVANCE TO CRATER FALLBACK SLOPES.
Abstract
The purposes of the investigation are: (1) to describe the properties and characteristics of natural rubble deposits, (2) to discuss the degree to which similar characteristics will be present in crater rubble slopes, and (3) to discuss possible factors which may affect the stability of both. The report includes: (1) a review of literature and nomenclature on talus and other natural rubble deposits, (2) descriptions of selected rubble slopes, (3) discussions of various factors affecting the configuration and properties of talus slopes, and (4) evaluation of some factors affecting crater slope stability.
