USE OF RUNWAY CONDITION METHOD TO PREDICT BRAKING PERFORMANCE

Abstract

Both the U. S. Air Force and FAA currently use James Brake Decelerometer to measure the runway condition and to enable the prediction of braking performance. A new method has been recently developed which also can be used to predict braking performance and uses runway condition reading as a measure of ground mu. The paper discusses both methods of predicting the braking performance.
