CALCULATION OF POTENTIAL FLOW ABOUT ARBITRARY THREE-DIMENSIONAL LIFTING BODIES.

Abstract

The report describes work accomplished during the first phase of a projected three-phase effort to develop a computer program to calculate potential flow about arbitrary three-dimensional lifting bodies. Logical procedures and formulas were developed for one calculational method. The various aspects of the logical procedures are stated, but the details of their implementation are ignored. Complete formulas are presented for the general case, but some special limiting formulas are omitted. Certain features of the method are still open questions, and the final means of handling them remains to be determined. In such instances various possibilities are mentioned. Programming of the method described is not completed. (Author)
