A LARGE Re-NUMBER AERODYNAMIC ASSEMBLY,

Abstract

The report describes an apparatus for large Reynolds numbers (Re), working on compressed air. The apparatus contains a balloon battery, a fore-chamber, a nozzle, a working element, a diffuser, and low-pressure gas containers. To provide for the secondary utilization of the exhaust air, the diffuser is supplied with two ducts. One of these is connected to the low-pressure gas containers, and the other is open to the atmosphere. The duct which conducts the air to the gas containers is provided with a shutter, while the one passing the air to the atmosphere contains a safety valve. The latter provides the operational safety of the apparatus during conduction of the air to the gas containers and during the exit of air into the atmosphere. To prevent the shock wave (formed in fast starting of the apparatus) from entering the gas containers, the diffuser is supplied with a dispersing device. (Author)
