GENERAL PROBLEMS OF THE THEORY OF PLATES AND ENVELOPES,

Abstract

Problems in the following areas of the theory of plates and shells are discussed: (1) formulation of the general equations of plates and shells; (2) analysis of the accuracy of existing applied theories; (3) several general methods. Brief descriptions and discussions of the ten accepted conference papers are given, and their relationship to the general problems (in the three areas mentioned above) is discussed. These papers include topics on equations of composite sheets, behavior of cylindrical and spherical shells under various loading conditions, three-dimensional shell theory, and methods of solution.
