ON THE CHARACTERISTICS OF PARASITISM BY IXODID TICK LARVAE AND NYMPHS,

Abstract

To elucidate the presence of specificity in host selection by ixodid tick larvae and nymphs, these stages were laboratory-reared and fed on white and field mice, large-toothed red-backed voles, rabbits, chickens, and sparrows. Larvae and nymphs of the following species were used in the experiment: Ixodes persulcatus, Haemaphysalis concinna, H. japonica, and Dermacentor silvarum. (Author)
