LONGITUDINAL MOTION OF BARS BY IMPACT WITH TEMPERATURE EFFECTS.

Abstract

The report examines the impact motion of finite bars of thermo-elastic and rate-sensitive plastic materials. Radial motions, however, are ignored. The governing equations, which admit initial temperature distributions in a stationary target, are integrated by the method of characteristics on a digital computer. (Author)
