A PROPOSITIONAL INVENTORY OF RESEARCH ON INTERPERSONAL DISTANCE.

Abstract

The paper contains a propositional inventory of representative studies of interpersonal distance. Empirical findings were extracted from 38 randomly chosen studies investigating factors related to interpersonal distance. These findings were grouped into 31 propositions which varied widely in their degree of confirmation. The results were related to a few well established propositions, with most being tentative. The usefulness of the propositional inventory as an information synthesis technique is discussed. (Author)
