ACTIVITY OF ATTACHMENT OF HYALOMMA ASIATICUM ASIATICUM P. SCH. ET E. SCH. TICKS UNDER LABORATORY CONDITIONS,
Abstract
Materials on experimental feeding of adult mites are presented. Ticks having starved during 7, 20, 40 and 180 days were fed on rabbits. Three day incubation at 0 degree of mites having starved during 7 and 20 days did not significantly affect their activity, whereas the incubation of mites during the same period at 40 degree accelerated their adhering to animals. Temperature fluctuations of the external medium within the range 10-35 degree did not significantly affect the course of mite feeding when they adhered to animals. Repeated feeding of ticks on one and the same animal decreases the intensity of their satiation with blood. In spring and summer mites adhere by suction to experimental animals much more rapid; they are very active also in attacking human. (Author)
