A SPATE OF SHELLS: MEETING REPORTS ON EUROMECH 15, THE PVT CONFERENCE AND THE IASS COLLOQUIUM.
Abstract
Three meetings dealing with shell statics, dynamics and stability were held in the three-week interval September 15 - October 13, 1969. While unified through the theme of shells the meetings were in general attended by three different groups: the Euromech audience had a strong academic flavor; PVT attendees were often concerned with boiler-code oriented investigations; and IASS members represented as usual the amalgamation of structural engineers and architects. In spite of this heterogeneity, analytical and experimental accomplishments could be grouped together as indicated and representative contributions cited in each group. No significant breakthroughs were detected, although steady progress in all areas continues. (Author)
