APPROXIMATE ESTIMATE OF FRICTION IN COMPOSITE BEARINGS,

Abstract

Ratios are given which make it possible to determine in the first approximation the friction moment in a bearing where there is a middle ring which is forced to rotate, as well as the optimum ratio of angular velocities. The forces of resistance to rolling are related to the pressure between the surfaces of the rolling bodies; there the power lost in overcoming the rolling bodies resistance is formulated. Further considerations give the general formula for total moment of friction.
