INVESTIGATION OF THE THERMAL OXIDATION DEGRADATION OF POLYTRIFLUOROETHYLENE IR-SPECTROSCOPY,

Abstract

The IR-spectroscopy method showed the formation of aldehyde groups during thermal aging of polytrifluoroethylene. A hypothesis was derived regarding the mechanism of thermal oxidation degradation. Measurement of the relative viscosity of polytrifluoroethylene solutions after aging in vacuum indicates the formation of 'cross links' of the polymer chains. (Author)
