INCREASING THE ACCURACY OF RADAR MEASUREMENT OF PRECIPITATION.

Abstract

A method is proposed for measuring precipitation over an area by means of a two-wave radar operating with a wave of 0.86 cm and a wave weakly attenuated in precipitation. For precise operational determination of the quation coupling the radar reflectivity and the intensity of the precipitation, data are used on the relative attenuation of the readiowaves. An experimental check of the measurement method with the MRL-1 meteorological radar set has confirmed the advantages of the method. (Author)
