HIGH-SPEED CUTTING OF LARGE CROSS SECTION OF COLD METAL,

Abstract

The document discusses high-speed cutting of large cross-section billets by means of presses and shears as assuring definite technological and economic advantages, since it can be used for relatively hard-to-cut steels and alloys. The authors propose a procedure for determining the stresses and work of deformation involved in the cutting of billets of square and rectangular cross section, as based on the main equations of continuum mechanics.
