THE USE OF A STEP-TYPE REGISTER IN CERTAIN RECOGNITION SYSTEMS,
Abstract
Some symbol (character) recognition systems have a group of sensors, in front of which passes every symbol on tape. A buffer-memory step-type register permits increasing the speed of operation of such systems by N times, N being the number of sensors. The register delays the signal by i cycles, where i equals 1,2...., N-the number of steps of the register. There are m identical standard flawless symbols on an endless tape. Recognition produces 1, nonrecognition 0. The signal is transmitted along the register steps. The possibility of using the step-type register in two other recognition systems is mentioned.
