INVESTIGATIONS OF A MOLYBDENUM-NICKEL-SILICON (Mo-Ni-Si) SYSTEM,

Abstract

By x-ray-structural and microstructural analysis methods an Mo-Ni-Si system was investigated. An isothermal diagram at 1000 degrees centigrade was set up. The compound with a structure of type MgZn 2 (Lambda sub 1-phase) has a variable composition (12.5-26 at. percent Si with a molybdenum content of 33.3 at. percent). The existence of previously detected Mu- and R-phases was confirmed. The solubility of nickel in molybdenum silicides is slight (it does not exceed 4 at. percent). (Author)
