MAGNETIC AND SUPERCONDUCTING PROPERTIES OF SOLIDS.

Abstract

A major group of papers deals with the influence of impurities magnetic and non-magnetic, on the properties of superconductors. The effect of magnetic impurities on various properties of normal metals was also calculated. Comparison with experiments should provide further tests of the Kondo model for the impurities. The properties of a superconductor near a boundary with a normal metal were investigated. Detailed explanations of experimental data were obtained through application and refinement of the accepted theory. It was pointed out that proximity effects may also exist in ferroelectric films. Another problem studied in detail is the structure of a negative ion in liquid He. The treatment of the vibrational modes of the ion has been used by others to explain the low temperature mobility.
