CREEP ANALYSIS OF SQUARE PLATES,

Abstract

The report presents an analysis of the creep bending of simply-supported, thin, square plates subjected to uniform lateral pressure. The analysis is based upon a creep power law and an analogy between the problem of creep and the corresponding nonlinear elastic problem. An approximate solution, which in general requires a numerical evaluation, is obtained by means of Reissner's variational principle. Graphical results are presented for the transverse displacements, bending moments, and twisting moment corresponding to two values of the power law index. (Author)
