MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF ANISOTROPIC LAMINATED PLASTICS DURING SHORT-DURATION TESTS,

Abstract

Results of an experimental investigation of mechanical properties of SVAM(anisotropic fiberglass reinforced material) and Textolite sheet (Bakelite/epoxy/phenolic) ARE PRESENTED AND ANALYZED. The preparations of specimensfor tension tests, compression tests, and for determining the elastic constants cut out every 15 degrees between 0 and 90 degrees in seven directions are described. The tests showed that both materials can be regarded as elasto-visco- elastic. Formulas for determining the directional angle dependent elastic constants are derived. (Author, modified-PL)
