A REVIEW OF WIDEBAND AMBIGUITY FUNCTIONS

Abstract

The wideband ambiguity function considers the actual time compression or expansion of the Doppler effect, rather than the frequency-shift approximation of narrowband function. The wideband ambiguity function has been derived and its properties reviewed, including comparisons with those of the narrowband function. The significance of the difference between the two functions can be shown to depend on the product of signal duration, signal bandwidth, and target velocity.
