ACCOMPLISHING THE PURE-TONE AUDIOGRAM.

Abstract

Most of the audiograms accomplished within and without the Armed Services are carried out by relatively untrained technicians. In many cases, no standard technic is followed, and conditions necessary for obtaining reliable test results are not met. The present paper outlines the general rules of good test procedure and presents a simplified step-by-step method for threshold determination. The technic is easily learned and provides reliable results in uncomplicated cases. The author suggests that bone conduction, masking, and more advanced audiometric tests should be conducted only by highly trained personnel. (Author)
