HIGH-FIDELITY APPROXIMATIONS TO MEDIAN PERCENTAGE POINTS OF ORDER STATISTICS.

Abstract

The exact median percentage points of order statistics have been computed by use of methods indicated in the text, and a table for N = 1(1)25(25)100(50)200 with six significant figures is presented. A general approximation formula, involving three parameters, has been proposed and its capacity has been examined. Parameters of the two-parametric version have been determined and introduced into the formula, which yields a very high accuracy. (Author)
