THE IRON-PRASEODYMIUM PHASE DIAGRAM.

Abstract

A phase diagram is proposed for the iron-praseodymium alloy system. Only one intermediate phase, Pr2Fe17, was observed in the system. Invariant points are the Pr2Fe17 peritectic point at 1105 plus or minus 8C and 89.5 at. % Fe and the eutectic point at 659 plus or minus 8C and approximately 18 at. % Fe. An unexplained thermal arrest at 670 plus or minus 7C was observed for alloys containing from 10 to 70 at % Fe. (Author)
