INTEGRATION OF THEORY AND EXPERIMENT INTO A UNIFIED CONCEPT OF VISUAL PERCEPTION.

Abstract

The study postulates the functional and organizational unity of living organisms and demonstrates this unity through matematical models and neurophysiological investigations. Experimentally, color vision is interpreted through neural organization of the retina. A model with a multi-level goal structure is described whose main organizational feature is a nonpredictive heterarchy of decision systems in which no one os the goals always predominates. Its activity is determined by a competitive interaction among the goals. (Author)
