TEMPERATURE AND COMPOSITION OF THE LOWER MAGNETOSPHERE.

Abstract

Observation of ionospheric temperatures and compositions are summarized and reproduced. The ionosphere from about 85-115 kilometers has been heated by radio waves and the relaxation of the medium yields collision frequencies and efficiencies. The full vector velocity of the F region has been observed for the first time and this has important impact on the understanding of the chemical and physical processes in this region. (Author)
