PROTOTYPE CLUSTER-PARACHUTE RECOVERY SYSTEM FOR A 50,000-LB UNIT LOAD. VOLUME 2. DIRECT DESIGN ASPECTS

Abstract

The report covers the direct design aspects of the selected prototype cargo recovery assembly for airdropping heavy unit loads in the order of 50,000 pounds. The detailed design of the components is covered as well as stress analysis to determine the margins of safety for the materials selected. Material lists and weights for the components are provided. Laboratory testing of individual components and strength efficiency of stitch patterns are shown.
