INFRARED STUDIES USING THE MATRIX ISOLATION TECHNIQUE.

Abstract

Briefly summarized are the results of research using matrix isolation techniques to study the infrared spectra of reactive halogen compounds such as SbF5, AsF5, ClF3, BrF3, BrF5, LiF, CH3COOH, and CCl3COOH. The main text of the report consists of four articles with the following titles: Infrared matrix-isolation spectra and the mechanism for F atom exchange in ClF3, BrF3, and SF4; On the calculation of unique force constants (F2O, O3, Cl2O, H2S, H2O, NF3, H2CO); Properties of LiF molecules; and Infrared spectra of matrix isolated acetic acid monomers.
