EPIZOOTIOLOGICAL CONDITIONS IN MUSKRAT POPULATION IN NOVOSIBIRSK OBLAST IN 1964-1965,

Abstract

According to the plan of co-ordinated investigation into the arbovirus problem a study of epizcotiological conditions in Novosibirsk Oblast was made. Muskrats were the main subject of investigation. Since these animals are easily infected and perish on a large scale from Omsk hemorrhagic fever (CHF), they elucidate the epizootiological background of this infection in an area. Great epizootics of the muskrat took place in the Novosibirsk region in 1963. As a result of it the number of the muskrat was dispersed and low. An increase in the number of this species was observed only in some localities in 1964-1965. During this period there were no severe epizootics.
