TECTONICS OF THE TURAN PLATE (Tektonika Turanskoi Plity),

Abstract

The paper is a length discussion of the Turan Plate regarding its structure, tectonic development, seismic characteristics and other pertinent geological information. The plate is confined by the old Russian platform in the northwest, by Paleozoic surface structures in the North and Northeast, by the region of Genozoic epiplatform orogenic formations in the southeast, by the younger Alpine folded systems of Kopet Dagh and the Afghanistan ridges in the south, and by the meridional system of young deep depressions of the Caspian Sea in the west.
