A NAVY STATISTICAL DECISION PROBLEM INVOLVING RADAR-BEACON DATA.

Abstract

A problem often encountered in Navy systems that make use of radar or radar-beacon data is described in mathematical terms. This problem must be solved before certain electronic equipment can be designed to make optimum use of available information. The problem involves finding an optimum statistical decision function that can use distribution-free methods. There are a number of other obvious applications that can be made of solutions to this problem. Some of these applications are described along with current approaches to a solution that are being pursued. (Author)
