RESEARCH IN MAN-MACHINE COMMUNICATIONS USING TIME SHARED COMPUTER SYSTEMS.

Abstract

The work of the Genie Project since its inception has been centered around the general subject of man-machine interaction. The main focus throughout has always been on the design and construction of time-sharing systems. A great deal of other work has been supporting this main effort. Most of the work which was not related to the construction of systems has been done using the system which has been constructed. The report is divided into two main parts: the work done between 1964 and 1966, most of which had to do with the creation of the SDS 940 time-sharing system; and the work done between 1967 and 1968, which was much more varied but had a major focus on the design of a new and more elaborate system.
