HEAT TRANSFER PROBLEMS IN ADVANCED GAS TURBINES FOR NAVAL APPLICATION.

Abstract

Activities and accomplishments, up to date, are summarized which have been obtained in research on heat transfer problems in advanced gas turbines at the Heat Transfer Laboratory, School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University of Minnesota. The report discusses: Introduction; Flow and heat transfer in rotating cavities; Turbulence measurements in combustion gases; Film cooling analogy; Thermal radiation properties; Studies on turbulent shear layers; and flow through porous media.
