A DATA SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR THE RECTIFICATION AND MAPPING OF DIGITIZED DATA.

Abstract

The report describes an automated method for the rectification and mapping of meteorological satellite image information or similar high resolution data. The particular purpose for developing this procedure is to rectify and map meteorological satellite photographs and spin scan data with the greatest possible accuracy. The emphasis of the procedure is on data selection. The described procedure is in contrast to the data placement approach of direct mapping. A data selection method is described in detail and is shown to be superior to direct mapping in terms of accuracy, efficiency and speed. (Author)
