SKY TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENTS PROGRAM AT 67 GHz.

Abstract

A measurements program in atmospheric emission profiles is described. The goal of the research was to obtain accurate data toward remote probing of atmospheric temperature profiles. The theory underlying such measurements is presented and the design of the experiment is discussed. The equipment, procedures, and data analysis used in the proper methods are discussed. Particular emphasis is placed on the antenna properties. Selected data are tabulated in the report, along with simultaneous surface and sonde measurements. The data are discussed with regard to antenna effects, terrain effects, and miscellaneous meteorological effects. (Author)
