DEVELOPMENT OF A TRIAXIAL TESTING MACHINE FOR EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF ROCK DEFORMATION.

Abstract

A triaxial testing machine has been constructed and partially tested. The machine will be used to study the mechanical properties of rocks under the following experimental conditions: Temperature; 0-500 degrees C: Confining pressures; 0-30,000 psi: Differential axial stress; 0-100,000 psi: strain rates .0001, .000001, .0000001, and .00000001/sec.
