DELTA MODULATION TECHNIQUES FOR ANALOGUE TO DIGITAL CONVERSION OF SPEECH SIGNALS,

Abstract

The use of delta modulation and deltasigma modulation is considered for the transmission of speech in digital form at digit rates below 40 kb/s. The Variable Slope Delta modulator (VSD-1), and a syllabically companded deltasigma modulator are described, and the results of electrical and subjective measurements to compare their performances are given.
