DYNAMIC RESPONSE AND DAMPING BEHAVIOR OF HETEROGENEOUS POLYMERS.

Abstract

The mechanical properties of a polystyrene - 1,4-polybutadiene-polystyrene block copolymer of molecular weight 9500/37500/ 9500 were determined at temperatures between-60 and 130 degrees C in sinusoidal shear over a frequency range from 25 to 1250 Hz, in tensile stress relazation from -70 to 70 degrees C over a time scale ranging from 1 to 1000 sec. and in tensile creep from -40 to 75 degrees C over a time scale from 10 to 10,000 sec. The dynamic mechanical properties of a 1,2-polybutadieneolystyrene block copolymer of molecular weight 160,000/ 40 were measured at ten tempertures, between -10 and 80 degrees C over a frequency range from 250 to 2500 Hz.
