THE MERCURY PHOTOSENSITIZED OXIDATION OF PERFLUOROBUTENE-2.

Abstract

The mercury-photosensitized oxidation of C4F8-2 at room temperature yields CF3CFO as the sole initial product. The CF3CFO is formed by the reaction of electronically excited C4F8-2 with O2. The electronically excited molecule can also internally convert to the ground state. A detailed reaction scheme and relative rate constants are given. (Author)
