A GENERALIZATION OF THE MATRIX EQUATION A SUPERSCRIPT 2 = J,

Abstract

The present paper is concerned with the matrix equation (A superscript 2) = D + lambda(J), where D is an arbitrary diagonal matrix and lambda is a positive integer. In terms of directed graphs, lambda paths of length two between every pair of distinct points are required.
