AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY IN 1966-1970,
Abstract
Truck and bus transportation is not meeting the requirements of the domestic economy. The 23rd Party Congress has decreed that freight hauling by truck transport will increase 1.7 times during the five years of the present plans (1966-1970). Vehicle production also fails to correspond to the configuration of freight haulage: in the future there will be more light trucks and heavy duty trucks but fewer medium trucks. In addition, the proportion of tractor-trailer combination is to increase. The latest truck designs are discussed and the basic characteristics are given for a number of new trucks (engine, horsepower, body style). The location of plants and a description of what is produced at each is given, as well as sights named for new plants. (Author)
