PROPOSED CONCEPTS OF GROUND SUPPORT AND SUPPLY EQUIPMENT FOR AIR-ASSAULT OPERATIONS.

Abstract

For many years, the U. S. Army Transportation Research Command (USATRECOM) conducted research on equipment for ground mobility; more recently, research was also conducted on aircraft ground support equipment. However, research in these two areas is no longer a function of USATRECOM. Since several items included in past investigations have attracted the interest of other agencies, this report is being published to describe those items that appear to be potentially capable of providing new concepts through the use of existing aircraft components and advanced ground-mobile test beds. The items being investigated are the small-vehicle train; the ultra-low-ground-pressure, articulated-steer PUTACAT, and the dry-wet cargo trailer. (Author)
