A PHOTOCHEMICAL ATMOSPHERE MODEL CONTAINING OXYGEN, HYDROGEN, AND NITROGEN.

Abstract

An oxygen-hydrogen atmosphere model containing the components O(triplet P), O(singlet D), O2, O3, OH, HO2, H2O2, H2, H2O, and H has been studied. The effect of vertical eddy diffusion has been considered for two sets of eddy diffusion coefficients. Diurnal variations in the number densities of the ten components have been computed from 65 km to 100 km. From these data the diurnal variation of hydroxyl emission has been derived. The model has been extended to include nitrogen components. It has been shown that the NO distribution is determined by vertical eddy transport. (Author)
