WAVELENGTH CALIBRATION OF MONOCHROMATORS IN THE 0.3 TO 2.0 millimicron REGION,

Abstract

A procedure is described whereby a monochromator can be calibrated between 0.3 and 2.0 microns using a combination of mercury standard spectral lines and Edser Butler fringes. The method is of general applicability but is most pertinent to prism instruments, for these instruments the numerical method outlined here is more accurate and simpler than the analytical solutions derived elsewhere.
