RESEARCH ON THE VOLOCITY FIELD OF ACTIVE SOLAR REGIONS.

Abstract

One of the prime objectives of the research program was to develop a new and improved method of recording the Doppler velocity field over two-dimensional solar image. The method is basically an extension of Leighton's spectroheliographic technique but employs a closed-circuit TV system in the actual image subtraction process in order to eliminate the complex photographic subtraction employed by Leighton. The basis of the method is described in the report.
