TECHNICAL GUIDELINES FOR POWER SOURCE ELECTRONIC VOLTAGE REGULATION AND CONTROL.

Abstract

The report summarizes the findings of a study to devise concepts for electronic voltage regulation and control of silent primary fueled power source systems. Emphasis was placed on the development of lightweight, highly efficient control and regulation schemes applicable to thermoelectric silent direct energy conversion systems and to hydrazine fuel cells for military field usage. Logistic fuel and weight requirements necessitated the emphasis of high efficiency and lightweight. Simplicity of operator control in start-up, operation, and shutdown sequences as well as load fault protection were also of major concern. The study considered of an evaluation of known system parameters and determination of unknown parameters, a phase in which these parameters were utilized in the optimization of design concepts, a circuit design phase, and, finally, a breadboard test phase to evaluate the performance of the design.
